Conflict of Interest, Transference and Countertransference

Conflicts of interest place you, the listener, in a position where providing support to the sharer will be extremely difficult due to the relationship you have with the sharer or with the sharer’s perpetrator.
Transference happens when the sharer projects his/her feelings onto the listener. While countertransference happens when the listener projects his/her feelings onto the sharer.
