This collection of two lessons builds on the information presented in Year 1 of this same topic of curriculum, and trains students to apply problem-solving skills to real-life situations. Both Lessons 1 and 2 ask students to apply problem-solving steps toward a possible solution to a problem in their community or region. Students will learn the value of talking to others in the community in order to seek ideas and input. These lessons reinforce positive communication skills, high expectations, motivation, integrity, and planning. The lessons are 45 minutes long and are flexible in group size. The lessons include a detailed lesson plan, lists of materials needed, and questions to help guide a constructive conversation.
