The lesson “I Know Healthful Foods” is part 20 of a 42 part series on parts of the human body, health, and safety. This lesson focuses on identifying healthy food that is good for children’s bodies and gives them energy, versus unhealthy food. This resource includes a lesson plan for the teacher on how to prepare beforehand, class- time content to facilitate learning, hands-on activities facilitating further learning, and a teacher assessment at the end. It also includes an action game for the children to play. This lesson is designed for a group of young children between the ages of 3 and 5, and is the twentieth physical development lesson in the Core Curriculum, 3-5 years, Year One.
